Last month, LinkedIn rolled out a new pricing model for job postings. Because LinkedIn is a popular site with Management Association members searching and sourcing candidates, here's a quick overview of what to expect when posting your jobs under the new structure. LinkedIn is no longer offering its “flat fee for 30 days” pricing structure.

“LinkedIn Premium” is actually split into 4 different types

What does LinkedIn Premium cost?

How much is LinkedIn Premium? Well, it varies based on the type of package you pick.

Premium Career: $29.99* / month
Premium Business: $47.99* / month when billed annually
Sales Navigator Professional: $64.99* / month when billed annually
Recruiter Lite: $99.95* / month when billed annually

*These prices do not include sales tax. Also those “billed annually” are up to 20% more expensive if you choose to pay month-to-month.

Also important: these are just the bottom tiers. There are 2 higher tiers that branch off each at additional cost. LinkedIn does not disclose anything about these until you’ve already become a customer.

What do you get with LinkedIn Premium?

Premium Career:
• 3 InMail messages per month (which can be sent to any LinkedIn user, regardless of whether you’re connected)
• See who’s viewed your profile in the last 90 days (not just the last 5)
• Display at the top of recruiters’ applicant lists
• See how you compare to other candidates
• View salary insights while browsing jobs
• Get access to LinkedIn’s online video courses

Premium Business: Like the “Career” plan but with 15 InMail messages; you can browse more profiles — up to 3rd degree; see business insights (e.g. “Employee distribution and growth by function,” “Notable alumni”).

Sales Navigator Professional: Like the “Career” plan but with 20 InMail messages; access to LinkedIn’s Sales Navigator lead-developing tool; lead lists; lead recommendations.

Recruiter Lite: Like the “Career” plan but with 30 InMail messages; advanced search; unlimited visibility of your extended network; automatic candidate tracking; integrated hiring; recruiting-specific design.

Is LinkedIn Premium worth it?

The key question here is: will you really use these specific features? Because if you don’t utilize the Premium tools you paid for, the upgrade won’t make any difference for you.

What’s the difference between limited posting and PPC posting of LinkedIn?

The main difference is that limited posting is shown only to users who are searching for a job or those who visit your company page. However, the PPC jobs are shown to another targeted user base who might be passive candidates and may not be actively looking for a new job.

With LinkedIn limited, your results will vary depending on how competitively are your competitors posting their jobs. However, our sample size says that free job postings do get almost 60% of all the applicants as the LinkedIn paid ones.

2) Share your job opening URL on your company and employee’s personal feed

You can share your careers page job URL to your company page on LinkedIn. Lately, LinkedIn has decreased the space it gave to company updates in user feeds. However, if you are maintaining an engaging LinkedIn company page, you would still get plenty of applicants from the ready pool of your followers. You can also share the same on your employee’s personal feed so that anybody interested in their network, can reach out. The limitation is that it’s not a real job posting and thus won’t be in the search results of someone actually searching for a job.

3) Use LinkedIn’s article feature

This is a really old tactic that recruiters mastered at the time when LinkedIn was pushing it’s own content publication feature. If you wrote an article, it would push a notification to everyone in your network. In this article, you could write a little bit about the opportunity and invite applicants. However, LinkedIn has stopped pushing this feature so hard. This has severely limited the reach of LinkedIn articles. In our opinion, this hack no longer works but you can still give it a go to experiment with your own strategy.
